I'm a DINK

Warning: Don't read while eating

Remember when someone would come to your school to teach you about Sex Ed? (Don't worry I'm not going there.) Well there was this guy that would come to our school every year and tell us "You want to be a DINK, before kids"

A DINK is - Double Income, No Kids. For whatever reason, I really remembered this because he made it sound awesome. Married to someone you love (hopefully) and having 2 incomes just for yourselves? Pretty sweet, right?

Sometimes I feel pressure in my late 20's that I need to start breeding having kids. And Lord willing I hope we will one day. But right now, I'm pretty excited about this time in my life and want to enjoy it before the impending chaos ensues.

(my adorable niece aka the tornado of energy)

Oh and I know there will be chaos. I read all of your Mommy Blogs out there! I have no idea how you do it all! I'm thoroughly impressed that you have time to blog let alone make all the amazing crafts/decor/parties/meals/etc!

Plus my sister posts things like this on her Facebook status...
Don't worry - they are all fine now. (I thought I might be sick after she told me what she puked, but I'll stop there.) Honestly though, it doesn't deter me from wanting kids in the future. But I really does make me enjoy being a DINK for a little while longer. :)

  1. Enjoy this time with your husband. We married young (first in our group of friends) but started having kids last. Hubbie has said lately that we should have started younger (our thirteen year old is a mess), but I disagree. Travel while you can, too :D *steps off of soapbox*

  2. Mallory, You are one smart lady. You enjoy every minute of this special time with your love. The right time will come.
Bob and I have been married almost 53 ys. We were 18 & 19 when we married and had our first child 10 months later. That was back when people counted and I was thankful he was not earlier. Everything worked out for us but it was not easy and times are different now. I don't recommend people doing it our way.
Children are a blessing but they deserve to be born into a matute and stable environment. Enjoy these early DINK years. Your future family deserves it. Hugs, Ginger

  3. BAHHHHHH! This post totally just cracked me up!!!!! Love it! I agree with your thoughts so much. Husband and I are starting to try (after three years of marriage) but man oh man is that ALL we heard about from both sides from day numero uno! And my SIL has five, so of course, I was expected to keep up! Enjoy your DINK time a bit longer, it is just so much fun! I wouldn't trade these years with just my hubby for anything! :)

  4. Yikes. It sure makes for great reading, but oh the events. Your poor sister. But I bet it was more terrible for your niece.
Did that guy from your school ever mention OIOK (One Income One Kid)? If so let me know. lol
