Leftover Light Turned Votive Holder

Remember this super gross light fixture from my bathroom before?

If you've ever remodeled a bathroom, you probably have this exact light fixture either laying around your house, tossed it immediately (because YUCK!), or donated it like the good person you are. :)

When we Mr. Mal-licious, took down this light fixture it just looked like it needed a little DIY. Although I thought it was super nasty the way it was, with a little help it could be a cool center piece. The length was great because we have a long table and the sockets would hold a tea light perfectly.

First we took out the electrical. You end up with this:

Yep, you'll need to glue these bad boys back on.

Then my oh so favorite part... scrubbing off the rust with my stylish garden gloves and steel wool. Who wants to stick their hands in those? Eeeewwww!

Now it's time to spray paint!

No picture of this but then I hot glued 2 gigantic bags of clear marbles with my little hot pink helper!

Then I added some tea lights and...

TA-DA!!!!!!

Whatcha think? I wasn't sure how this would turn out but I'm really liking it and its much more sparkly in person! :)

  11. That is soooo fantastic. I love it because we have the same horrid (sorry) light fixture in our master bath and I have been asking for years to replace it. The problem, it will snowball into a bunch of other updates and hubby doesn't want to tackle them. This idea gives me incentive to get that thing down. I love it Mallory

  13. OMG, look how clever & creative you are! I'm sure we've removed & given away a bunch of these over the years. I'll keep this in mind the next time I come across one of these. I'm following & would love it if you followed me back.
