Party Time! Excellent!

This weekend was my hubby's b-day. But before I show you a few of my party decorations. I have to give you 2 reasons why I love blogs/blogging.

1.) Pinterest. I found out about it quite a while ago after a few people "pinned" pictures from my bathroom. (You guys rock! So flattered!!)
I haven't blogged about it before because everyone and their mother pretty much knows about Pinterest now. But I LOVE it especially for party ideas. All you do is "pin" the picture and then just look at all the fun things you have "pinned" while party planning and you'll get a ton of great ideas!!

2.) Other bloggers. Not only are y'all super fun but you inspire me and recommend awesome products. Such as stitch witchery. Thank you for introducing me to that one! Never knew about it before but will be using it ALL the time now!!

Here's my rainbow streamers (Pinterest inspired):
(I took this picture the next day so its not as fresh, clean or festive but you get the idea, right?!)

And did you see my new table runner? I made that. Yep. Just ironed it together with Stitch Witchery. Looooove it.

Maybe I'll do a little tutorial next time I use it but it's really super easy and I was in a hurry.

If you're on Pinterest look me up at MalloryAnn_

Love to see what you're pinning! :)

Dressing up the Dresser

Who doesn't love a little before & after?

Here's where I hung my new DIY sign.

This is our dresser across from our bed.

BEFORE: Ya like that I cleaned up for you? ;)

AFTER:

Remember the my little lyric art project? It's right here!

All my Ikea frames that I laid out nicely... then I hung them up completely differently. So typical of me!

Love waking up to something much more colorful and each thing has some meaning to us. I'll save that for another post.

Whatcha think? Better?

I think I love you

Dear Adhesive Backed Fabric Paper,

I think I'm in love with you. You are my new favorite crafting material.

Where have you been all my life and where can I get you in a variety of colors?

xoxo,
Mallory

My new love is pretty fabric. LOVE.

It is easy to use like craft paper. AMAZING.

And it is a gigantic sticker. GENIUS.

How AWESOME is this? Why am I only finding this now?

Ok so here is what I made last night in like 10 mins or less...

Bought some word art at Ross for $4.

Traced and cut out the fabric around the letters.

Peeled and slapped the sticker on there.

TA-DA!

I'll show you where I put it in my next post.

What do you think? Have you used this before?

Hat Tip

Hello Lovelies! Hope you had a great weekend!

It's royal wedding, horse races, and beach season so I've been in need of a hat. But I didn't have a fun hat. :( What is a girl to do?

I went on a search. Sadly I got outbid on eBay for the hat I really wanted...

Probably for the best. I don't think I have the teeth to pull it off.... Just kidding Princess Beatrice! (Y'all know she reads my blog right?)

Anyhoo...

So I decided to do a little DIY.

Here is my step by step instructions on how to make a fancy DIY hat for cheap!

1.) Buy a plain jane hat. It was easy to find one of those. (Especially when it only costs $12 bucks! Woo woo!)

2.) Have some ribbon around your house? Tie it around! Pin or glue it on the end. (I pinned mine, I couldn't make the commitment!)

3.) Buy a few large cheap fabric flowers (these were $4 at Claires or somewhere like that).
4.) Stick them close together and cover up where you pinned or glued on your ribbon.

5.) Ta-da! Easy DIY hat. :)

Great for a race or sunny day at the beach! Can't wait to wear it in Key West this summer!

Have you ever made a DIY hat?

Jenny Beth is the one that inspired me to make over my laundry room. Check her's out here. And mine here.

Thanks again! xo

DIY Sunglass Case

Every summer I buy several pairs of cheap sunglasses. And I have to buy several pairs because I either lose them OR they get super scratched up in my purse. (or possibly scratched and lost in the bottom of my purse!)

So this year I decided to make a sunglasses case out of some leftover fabric and ribbon I already had on hand. Now it's easy to find in my purse and not scratched! And best of all it was... FREE! Woohoo!

Fortunately, I finally figured out what the heck was wrong with my sewing machine. (Ok really my brother-in-law figured it out. Random, huh?!)

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to sew any better so I just did my crappy straight stitch around a square and left room to pull a ribbon through it at the top.

But whatevs. All that mess is on the inside and when you turn it inside out it looks like this!
I'll probably swap out the ribbon for a more substantial ribbon but that's all I had that went with that fabric on hand.

So that's my tutorial for a super duper easy sewing project! If I can do it, trust me, ANYONE can!

Finally joining parties again! Linking up to:

The Bee's Knees

When I heard this song on the radio I thought the words would look great in a frame on my bedroom wall. Such fun sweet lyrics.

So today I finally put it on PowerPoint and made some DIY art. I'll be printing it off as soon as I find a frame!

Do you know that song? I thought the lyrics were really cute.

I lurve me some free art! :)

ps- if you want to print this I'll can email it to you

Random Email

A guy I sit across from all day at work (who I've only known a month) just emailed me this:

"For someone as tiny as you are, you eat ALL the time."

I find it hilarious what other people notice about you!

I munch all day. I'm always hungry. I'm amazed I'm not 500lbs with my lack of exercise routine and bad eating habits. I must burn a lot of calories running my mouth all day.

Here I am eating pizza at 1am.

And no, she did NOT get a bite of MY pizza. ;)

ps- luv ya Meggie. :)

Travel Tuesdays: Nashville, TN

We had SO much fun in Nashville! Thanks to all of y'all who gave me tips on where to go in Music City! Blogger Deneen has lived in TN for a while and had some great suggestions! Thank you!

Look who I met right when I got into Tennessee? She must of known I was coming to town.

We stopped a long the way at Buddy's Bar-B-Que and it was pretty good! We try to stop at places we've never heard of or we can't go to around DC when we are on trips.

As soon as we got into town we walked all over downtown and got ice cream. I know, so unlike us. ;)

Got a table at Pie in the Sky! We didn't have to wait at all because we sat at a table in the bar area!

Then we had a day filled with fun tourist-y things!

We went to Studio B where tons of country artists have recorded their hits. Pretty much amazing stuff has happened in this room.

Elvis played these pianos. *swoon*

Then we walked around the Country Music Hall of Fame. Tons of cool stuff!!

Why yes those are pistol door handles.

NashVegas!! Lots more walking around town...

Got a little crazy... had a Gene Kelly moment.

Ate at BB King's restaurant. And no, that isn't him. (ps- they charge you a cover even if you go for dinner. Wasn't thrilled about that.)

We got up early the next day to eat some World Famous Biscuits at Loveless Cafe.

Mmmm.... biscuits.

Then we checked out downtown Franklin. It is SUPER CUTE! GO THERE! Sadly, no pics. Too busy walking around the festival downtown.

We went to the Franklin Factory.

There must be giants in Franklin.

I learned a little Tennessee home cookin'

Then we went to... THE GRAND OLE OPRY!!!!!!!

AND they let me sing on the stage. For real. That's not a fake picture. I sounded just awful but I got to do it!!

Did you know the Grand Ole Opry has a post office? Because they do and you can mail your favorite artist there.

Dressing rooms...

I'm announcing Brad Paisley onto the stage... OK only in my dreams.

Then we stopped at Opryland Hotel. It reminded me of a hotel in Vegas.

Then, I got a new hat. What do you think?

Leaving the hotel...

So those were some highlights of Nashville! We definitely want to go back one day. A great way to spend our 4 year anniversary. Such a fun town even if you don't like country music. But you probably wouldn't wanna say that out loud there...

"If you talk bad about country music, it's like saying bad things about my momma. Them's fightin' words." Ms. Dolly Parton :)
